Email books. LinkedIn opens. WhatsApp keeps warm.
Each channel has a different job in the funnel. Run everything through one and you give away either reach or meetings. Here are the roles and the numbers behind them.
Read for freeBasis: anonymised channel data from active GTM Goat workspaces, plus 3+ years of outbound and 2 million+ emails analysed, as of mid-2026.
The wrong question: "which channel is best?"
There is no best channel, only the right channel for the right funnel job. Pitting email against LinkedIn is like hammer versus screwdriver, they do different things.
What each channel actually does
| Channel | Strength | Positive / meeting |
|---|---|---|
| meeting engine | highest density of meeting requests per message | |
| reach | most positive replies in absolute terms | |
| efficiency | highest positive rate per message sent |
The combined funnel
The channels play together. A proven sequence logic:
Connection and a first warm touch. Builds recognition before the email arrives.
The concrete angle with a low-friction CTA. This is where meeting requests happen.
Only on existing contact and consent: short, personal follow-ups with high response.
Not everything at once. Coordinated intervals beat parallel flooding.
An honest read
Next level: GTM Goat
Orchestrating three channels by hand, with timing, approvals and deliverability per sender, is where most teams fail. GTM Goat runs email, LinkedIn and WhatsApp as one coordinated funnel.
Coordinated sequences instead of three separate tools with three separate logics.
Sender pool, warmup and limits per account, deliverability as a system responsibility.
Which channel brought which meeting, visible rather than guessed.
Every message with outward effect runs through your approval.
Common questions
Should I start with LinkedIn or email?
Ideally LinkedIn first for recognition, then email for the concrete ask. If you only have one channel: email books more meetings, LinkedIn builds more reach.
Is WhatsApp cold outreach allowed?
Legally risky for B2B cold contact. Use WhatsApp primarily on existing contact or after consent, where the response is strong and the risk is low.
How many channels are too many?
Three well orchestrated beat five badly timed. Coordination matters, not count.
Is this your data or client data?
Anonymised channel aggregates across several workspaces. No names, no single-client data.
